Rosann Dockendorf (Tasset) (1964)

Submitted by Edie Naab Kellogg (daughter)

Andrew Frank Naab was born on June 29, 1923, to Anna Ackerman Naab and Andrew F. Naab.  He lived all his life in the Spearville area.  Andy went to Windthorst schools and graduated in 1942.  He entered the army in September 1943 and served in the Pacific Theatre, specializing in amphibious vehicles.  He was honorably discharged March 1, 1946, and came back home to work the family farm.  He married Rita Mary Hain on October 18, 1949.  They were the first married couple to have their wedding dance in the brand new gymnasium at Windthorst.

They bought their home place in 1952 on what is now known as Jewell Road.  Andy and Rita had seven children:  Edie, Janice, Lois, Becky, Lisa, Lester, and Randy.

His faith was very important to him as well.  He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary church at Windthorst, a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a Fourth Degree Knight.

Andy loved his family, farm life, his animals, going to bingo, and above all – winning at playing cards.

Andrew passed away on May 26, 2013, leaving his wife of 63 years, Rita, and seven children, 20 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
